Election Notice: ccNSO Council, Asia/Australia/Pacific Region

This is to inform you about the elections for the position of one (1) ccNSO Council member for the Asia/Australia/Pacific region. Two candidates have been nominated, seconded, and accepted their nominations in line with the established rules and timeline. Consequently, an election will be held among the Emissaries of the Asia/Australia/Pacific Region: Your vote is crucial to ensure your region's representation—don't miss this opportunity!

CANDIDATES

The candidates were invited to submit their statements to ccNSO members. They also engaged with ccNSO members and the broader ccTLD community during a Q&A session held at the ccNSO Members Meeting during ICANN81. You can watch the recording of the session here.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • One Ballot Per Emissary

Each eligible Emissary from the Asia/Australia/Pacific region will receive one ballot.

  • Ballot Delivery

Ballots will be sent via email from tally@icann.org latest on 26 November. Here is an example.

  • Reminders

Email reminders will be sent to those who have not yet voted.

  • Voting Flexibility

You may vote multiple times, but only the last vote submitted will be counted.

  • Preferred Candidate

Please select one preferred candidate by choosing only one option. If you believe none of the candidates are suitable, you may submit your vote without selecting any option.

  • How many Emissaries need to vote?

According to the guideline, a quorum is reached when the majority of eligible Emissaries in the Geographic Region vote. The ccNSO currently counts 57 members from the Asia/Australia/Pacific region, corresponding to 56 Territories, and therefor 56 Emissaries.

  • Voting is anonymous

Voting results will be anonymized, and votes will be identified only by their ballot ID.

  • Who wins?

The candidate who receives the majority of votes cast by Emissaries from the region will be selected. The winner is the candidate with the most votes. If there is a tie, a run-off election will be held between the tied candidates.
The Election Report, which includes the results of the election and possible observations by the Election Process Manager, will be sent to the ccNSO Council for adoption. Council's adoption of the Report will formally close the process. New Council terms will commence at the end of ICANN82 in March 2025.
