The Council of the country code Names Supporting Organisation (ccNSO) approved Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), the ccTLD operator of .tz (Tanzania), as the newest ccNSO member. The ccNSO currently numbers 172 members. The ccNSO warmly welcomes .tz to its membership and looks forward to a fruitful collaboration.
Background
Following the recent transfer of the .tz ccTLD from Tanzania Network Information Center (tzNIC) to Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) - tzNIC is no longer the ccTLD Manager of .tr.
According to the ICANN Bylaws, ccNSO membership is limited to ccTLD Managers (originally Sponsoring Organisation), which are the entities listed as ccTLD Manager in the IANA TLD Delegation record. The ccNSO Council therefore concluded that the ccNSO membership of tzNIC has ended, after completion of the transfer process of .tz to TCRA
About the ccNSO
The ccNSO is the policy development body for a narrow range of global issues regarding country-code top level domains (ccTLDs) within the ICANN structure. Membership in the ccNSO is open to all ccTLD managers responsible for managing an ISO 3166-1 country-code top-level domain.
