History: The .do was delegated by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) on August 25, 1991, from that date .do was in custody at the University of Puerto Rico waiting to identify to whom delegate the ccTLD .do in the country . In 1995, the .do was delegated to the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM). Initially the operations related to the domain registration were conducted through the University of Puerto Rico.
In 1997 was established the infrastructure that allowed .do operation in the country, including registration policies and payment of fees for the service. To perform these functions was created the Network Information Center .do (NIC .DO), office responsible for providing information services and domain name registration for .do
In 2009 NIC .DO implemented a dispute resolution policy selecting the Arbitration and Mediation Center of WIPO as dispute resolution provider for .do
In 2016 NIC .DO-PUCMM signed the Accountability Framework with ICANN.
