Mohamed EL Bashir has been involved with efforts to develop Internet in Sudan from its very beginning there, is the Founder and President of Sudan Internet Society "SIS", an Non-for-Profit Organization managing Sudan TLD ".SD" and work toward promoting Internet usage in Sudan . El Bashir holds a Master's Degree in Computer Information Systems from the American University in London and a Bsc. in Computer Systems Technology.
He got involved in ICANN activities in 2001 handling Sudan TLD ".SD" Re-delegation process, later He got involved in International Domain Names "IDN" issues, He is a member of ICANN TLD Working Group "WG Reviewing IDN guidelines", and also a member of ICANN President's Committee in IDN.El Bashir is Vice President for Communications & Out-Reach of African Top Level Domains Organization.
Previously El Bashir was working in Sudan Telecom "SUDATEL" managing Internet Infrastructure and Web Development. He is interested in Information Communications Technology impact Education and life of people in developing countries, He is involved in several PAN African ICT projects , among them Teacher's Training for Sub-Sahara Africa "TESSA" using ICT and Open Educational Resources.
