Call for Volunteers: The ccNSO seeks members to the ccNSO Internet Governance Liaison Committee (IGLC)

The ccNSO seeks additional volunteers for the ccNSO Internet Governance Liaison Committee (IGLC). The IGLC has been established to coordinate, facilitate, and increase the participation of ccTLD managers in discussions and processes pertaining to Internet Governance.

The call for volunteers will close on Thursday, 28 January 2020 (23:59 UTC).

Who can join?

Membership of the Committee is open to all ccTLD managers (whether members of the ccNSO or not) The membership will be listed on https://ccnso.icann.org/en/about/iglc. There is no term-end. Each year the members of the Committee will be asked whether they want to continue to serve thereon.

Members are encouraged

  • to have a good knowledge and record of dealing with Internet Governance related matters from a ccTLD-perspective
  • to have experience of (remote) working in teams and ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment. The group encourages participation from all geographic regions.

When applying as a member of the IGLC, you commit to participate in and contribute to the monthly IGLC meetings and to the work in between those meetings. The committee uses English as its working language. Good writing skills are appreciated.

As per its Charter, the IGLC shall have a minimum of five members and a maximum as determined by the ccNSO council. At least two (2) ccNSO Councillors shall be member of the IGLC. ccTLD regional organisations may nominate an observer to be appointed by the ccNSO Council. The Chair of the ccNSO, or a person designated by the Chair of the ccNSO, is appointed ex-officio.

Working method

The committee meets on a monthly basis through telephone conferences and might decide to meet during the ICANN public meetings. However, most work is done remotely, between the telephone conferences and meetings. The working language of the committee is English.

Members shall be appointed by the ccNSO Council after closure of the call for volunteers.

About the ccNSO IGLC

  • Objective

    The IGLC has been established to coordinate, facilitate, and increase the participation of ccTLD managers in discussions and processes pertaining to Internet Governance. The ccNSO Council and individual ccTLD Managers, collectively or individually, will be invited to support the position or input of the IGLC. The Committee will take a proactive role in seeking and fostering participation and input into the processes and provide regular feedback to the ccNSO Council, ccNSO members and broader ccTLD community.

  • Scope of activities

    In achieving its objective, the committee will undertake, but is not limited to, the following activities:

    • Provide input to the ccNSO and share information on issues pertaining to Internet Governance discussions, events and processes.
    • Ensure that such input as mentioned above is reflected in the ccNSO's activities in discussions and processes pertaining to Internet Governance.

    The committee may relate to and liaise with ICANN and/or other supporting organisations and advisory committees.
